About the Journal

The name Noemica Journal derives from the Greek noēma, a term linked to the act of perceiving, thinking, and understanding with the mind. It is the same root that runs through the philosophical and scientific tradition of studying cognition and thought processes, joined to the suffix -ica, common in forming names of fields and organized bodies of knowledge, as in "physics" or "logic".

This origin reflects the journal's purpose: to investigate, with scientific rigor, human processes, cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral, and their interfaces with organizations, governance, and society, at their different levels of analysis.

Mission

Noemica Journal is an interdisciplinary open-access scientific journal affiliated with the Center for Organizational Studies, Management and People (NEOGEP), a CNPq-certified research group affiliated with the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of São Paulo (IFSP).

Its mission is to advance scientific knowledge through the publication of research on human processes, cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral, and their interfaces with organizations, governance, and society, at different levels of analysis: from the individual to groups, organizations, institutions, territories, and social systems.

The editorial scope is organized around three complementary thematic axes:

  • Human Processes — Cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral processes across different contexts: organizational behavior, leadership, decision-making, lifelong learning, human and skills development, mental health, well-being, teaching-learning, human-technology interaction, and adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Organizations and Governance — Public, private, and third-sector organizations: strategy, innovation, governance, people and knowledge management, digital transformation, applied artificial intelligence, organizational ethics, socio-environmental responsibility, and integration of ESG principles into decision-making processes.
  • Public Policy and Sustainable Development — Formulation, implementation, and evaluation of public policy: territorial development, smart cities, digital innovation and governance, urban planning, education, labor, social inclusion, and regional development.

These three axes reflect the journal's scientific proposal: to understand how human phenomena influence organizations and governance systems, and how these, in interaction with society and technology, shape public policy and sustainable development.

Noemica Journal values manuscripts that connect different fields of knowledge and encourages research aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), broadening the social relevance and citability of published work.

Editorial Model and Languages

The journal follows a continuous publication model, organized into one annual volume, making articles available as soon as they complete the editorial process. Additional issues may be published exceptionally, resulting from thematic dossiers or fast-track processing of academic events, provided they align with the journal's editorial proposal.

Submissions are accepted in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The preferred language of publication is English; articles approved in Portuguese or Spanish are translated into English at no cost to the author, and metadata are published in all three languages.

The journal works continuously to improve the compatibility of its articles with screen readers and other assistive technologies. Suggestions can be sent to the editorial team.
