NEOGEP — Center for Organizational Studies, Management and People

Certified by CNPq since 2018, NEOGEP (Núcleo de Estudos Organizacionais, Gestão e Pessoas) is an institutional research group based at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of São Paulo (IFSP), Pirituba Campus.

The group's purpose is to conduct research and advance integrated studies on contemporary dynamics in organizations, management, and people. Building on this research activity, the group also carries out complementary outreach activities, continuing professional education, and technology transfer aimed at the strategic needs of the productive sector, public administration bodies, and third-sector organizations.

Core Focus: Active Research Lines and Contemporary Themes

NEOGEP's scientific activity is organized around three research lines registered in the CNPq Directory of Research Groups, incorporating the transformations and trends shaping the global landscape:

1. Organizational Studies

Scope: Analysis of institutional structures, corporate culture, process design, governance, and contemporary organizational arrangements.
Current research areas: ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices in corporate strategy; the role of organizations in achieving the UN 2030 Agenda's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and the impact of innovation ecosystems on market structures.

2. Public Management and Compliance

Scope: Evaluation of public policy, regulatory governance, corporate integrity, ethics, control, and transparency in public administration.
Current research areas: Modeling, feasibility, and governance of smart and sustainable cities, examining the role of urban innovation in improving public services; application of ESG guidelines in government; and the integration of SDG targets into urban planning and compliance mechanisms.

3. People and Behavior

Scope: Changes in labor relations, leadership models, motivation, workplace culture, career transitions, and worker well-being.
Current research areas: The impact of artificial intelligence and automation on the labor market and on the development of new professional skills; leadership and diversity in relation to the social dimension of ESG; and the psychosocial effects of digital and hybrid work environments.

Cross-Cutting Research: Risk Management and NR-1

Cutting across the People and Behavior and Public Management and Compliance lines, the group conducts research on the implications and practical application of Brazil's Regulatory Standard No. 1 (NR-1). The research focuses on how Occupational Risk Management (GRO) and the structuring of Risk Management Programs (PGR) affect organizational behavior, productivity, and the physical and mental well-being of workers, and evaluates legal compliance as a component of corporate responsibility.

Related Activities

Consistent with the academic principle linking teaching, research, and outreach, and with its role in technology transfer, findings from NEOGEP's research feed into the following activities:

Teaching, Training, and Academic Supervision: Empirical evidence, data, and findings from the group's research are used as teaching material at IFSP. Faculty and researchers in the group supervise undergraduate capstone projects (TCC) and the development of academic papers in partnership with students, within the group's thematic scope.

Outreach Projects and Technical Services: Technical-scientific consulting and support for the regional ecosystem, including organizational climate diagnostics, methodological support for structuring PGR programs under NR-1, change and risk management frameworks, planning support for smart-city initiatives, and corporate training programs addressing ESG and SDG topics.

Legal Basis for Services

The group's activities, including its service-provision work, are based on the following federal legislation:

1. Federal Law No. 11,892/2008 (Law establishing the Federal Institutes): Under Article 6, it is an explicit purpose of these institutions to promote applied research, encourage the development of technical and technological solutions, and extend the benefits of these activities to the external community.

2. Legal Framework for Science, Technology and Innovation (Law No. 10,973/2004 and Law No. 13,243/2016): Authorizes Scientific, Technological and Innovation Institutions (ICTs), such as IFSP, to provide technical assistance, consulting, and development services to companies and public bodies (Articles 8 and 9).

3. Institutional Governance: All projects, agreements, and partnerships led by the group follow the approval procedures of Pirituba Campus and the IFSP Rectory, and are formalized through the applicable regulatory channels, including, where relevant, accredited support foundations.
